PRIMATES & PATTERNS  COLLECTION

In my Primates and Patterns Collection, I am observing the use of objectification of animals in decoration. I continue combining floral and geometric patterns to enhance the backgrounds. Meanwhile, monkeys, apes, and occasionally humans become the primary object. Often these focal points are only part of the animal, not the whole being. I combine this imagery because I feel humans are objectifying animals, just as art often objectifies women for economic gains. I also think it is unfortunate that by creating pieces that bring attention to animals’ objectification in design, I am taking part in just that.

I created most of this collection between 2010 and 2012.
